The ski boot production process

Until about 35 years ago, ski boots consisted primarily of leather. They were really nothing other than modified mountain boots and were produced using traditional methods.

Their appearance was changed by the introduction of metal buckles at the end of the 1960s.

With constant improvements being made to plastics, leather was finally also replaced as the upper material at the beginning of the 1970s.

Today, the production of ski boots is all about assembling various plastic parts, attaching the fastening elements and inserting a sewn inner boot.

But that’s not to take anything away from the remarkable combination of shoemaking tradition, craftsmanship and the most technically complex development and production work that goes into making the boots.
